Summer is fast approaching in many parts of the world, and refreshing drinks are flocking to bars and restaurants. Most of them are served with a straw, which most often ends up in the garbage after use. It's a pity, because even used tubes can be reused and using only your own imagination to create unique home crafts. Playing with the creation of ornaments and decorations with drinking straws is a great idea for long winter evenings and time spent with children.

How to use straws for purposes other than drinking the drink?

1. CANDLES

   If you plan to organize a birthday party and the cake with candles is to be the main decoration of your table , make sure it looks unique. Candles made of drinking straws are an interesting decoration for the cake . Their execution is simpler than it seems. Just stick a standard cake candle into a straw of your choice (preferably a paper one ), and then place it in the cake. Instead of a cake, it can be a cupcake, muffin or a glass filled with sand or decorative pebbles.
   
   

2. FLOWERS

   The most popular decoration made of drinking straws among DIY enthusiasts are all kinds of flowers. There are plenty of ideas for their implementation. One of the simpler ones requires seven hearts cut from colored paper and a piece of plasticine. We fold the hearts in half and glue the left half of the first heart together with the right half of the next one to obtain a round cup. We put a straw inside it and stick it with a piece of plasticine. Paper tulips are an even easier idea to implement. We cut them out of paper, fold them into an accordion, make a hole in it with a punch, and then put a straw through it, which becomes a stem. And ready!

1. ACCESSORIES FOR PHOTOBOOK

   A photo booth is almost an obligatory element of every wedding or celebration. It not only allows you to capture your guests during the event , but also provides a lot of fun. An interesting diversification of the photos taken is the use of various kinds of gadgets: glasses, mustaches, lips or signs with funny inscriptions. With a bit of free time, you can make them yourself at home. Just cut out printed or hand-painted patterns from paper and attach them to the straw. Great fun guaranteed!
   
   

2. LABELS WITH NAME

   Being in a wedding atmosphere, it is worth mentioning another interesting idea for using drinking straws to decorate tables. As you know, a wedding table must have a label with the guest's name assigned to a specific place. A card with the name can be printed on a cardboard of any shape and pattern, glued to the straw, and then placed in a glass next to the plate.
   
   

3. FAN

   Colorful paper windmills are the perfect design for the youngest. To make them, you need a colored cardboard, a straw and scissors - nothing could be easier! Cut a square out of colored paper and fold it along one diagonal, and then along the other, so that after unfolding, you get a square with fold lines forming a large X. We cut the folds to a distance of 1 cm in front of the center of the sheet. All the corners of the square and its central point are pricked with a pin. We wrap each of the cut corners inwards so that all five holes overlap and we put a pin with a thick head through them. Finally, stick a pin into a straw (preferably bamboo ) and voil á !
   
   

4. CHOCOLATE LOLLS

   Drinking straws can also be used in the kitchen. All gourmands, both small and large, will surely like homemade chocolate lollipops served on a colorful straw. For such a recipe, we will need special molds for lollipops, although those for cookies, if they are sufficiently deep, will also work. Melt your favorite chocolate in a pot , pour it into a mold, sprinkle with coconut shavings or crushed almonds, put in a straw and put it in the fridge for about half an hour. When the mass has solidified, the dessert is ready.
